What do you teach?
I teach guitar lessons for all styles, skill levels, and ages. I am particularly passionate about teaching classical guitar and improvisation, and I also enjoy getting beginning students acquainted with their instrument. I also teach voice with an emphasis on proper technique and expression.
What makes you want to share your skills and knowledge?
I am always learning new things in my own practice as a musician, so I feel really passionate about helping others learn and grow on their own musical paths. As a professional musician with a wide variety of experiences, I feel I am able to transfer knowledge that I consider very valuable to my students.
What is your experience in your craft and how are you evolving?
I went to college for classical guitar performance and trained in jazz guitar privately for 10 years. My career has included playing for many bands in a wide variety of genres, touring Europe with a rock band, playing countless weddings and special events as a soloist, organizing a music festival, and recording and releasing my own original music. I am currently working on growing my career as a solo guitarist in Los Angeles, as well as honing my craft as a songwriter and producer.
What is your style of teaching?
My lessons are geared towards technique so my students are able to play comfortably and effortlessly. I also put a big emphasis on rhythm, since I find that students who are well trained in rhythm are able to learn at a much quicker rate. This is all done with the student’s musical tastes and personal strengths and weaknesses in mind. I really pay attention to my students’playing, and highly value their thoughts and feedback. While I am always thinking about the big picture learning path of my students, I make sure each lesson is tailored to helping them with what they need to grow in that moment.
What keeps you creatively inspired?
I love learning and working on new styles of guitar playing, which is why my playing is constantly evolving. It’s always important for me to have an outlet for what I am learning at the time, whether it be a gig or a recording project, so I can share my new skills with the world.
