Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about lessons, instructors, and getting the most out of your learning experience.

Enrollment

  • How do I start lessons with Louder?

Begin with a one-time intro lesson to meet an instructor, discuss your goals, and experience how our lessons work. This helps you find the right fit before enrolling in weekly lessons.

  • What happens during an intro lesson?

You’ll meet your instructor, explore your interests, and try out a lesson. It’s a chance for both you and the instructor to see if it’s a good match for ongoing lessons.

  • Can I try more than one instructor before enrolling?

Yes! If your first intro doesn’t feel like the right fit, we’ll help to set up another intro lesson with a different instructor.

  • How do I enroll in weekly lessons after my intro lesson?

After your intro lesson you’ll receive a proposal with your instructor’s weekly booking link. We will also connect with you about enrollment and we can help you book.

Scheduling & Attendance

  • How do I reschedule a lesson?

Please connect with your instructor to reschedule or contact us at hi@louderla.com.

  • How much notice do I need to cancel a lesson?

Please cancel lessons at least 24 hours in advance through your Opus1.io account to receive a make-up credit. Cancellations within 24 hours cannot be rescheduled or refunded.

  • How many make-up credits can I receive?

To keep scheduling balanced, students may receive up to (2) two make-up credits for client cancellations within a 60-day period. Make-up credits can be scheduled through your Opus1.io account or by emailing us at hi@louderla.com. Credits do not automatically apply to your invoice as they are lesson credits not monetary credits.

  • What happens if I miss my make-up lesson?

Make-up lessons cannot be rescheduled or exchanged for another credit. If a make-up is missed, it is forfeited.

  • What if my instructor cancels a lesson?

If your instructor needs to miss a lesson—including make-ups—you’ll receive a make-up credit that can be scheduled at a later date.

Billing & Enrollment

  • Why do I have to enroll?

After your intro lesson, we ask that you enroll in lessons for consistency and continuity that supports both you and our instructors’ scheduling sustainability. Your commitment supports their time while helping you maintain a consistent learning routine. We also offer flexibility to adjust or pause your enrollment as needed.

  • When am I billed each month?

Enrollment renews and billing occurs on the 1st of each month.

  • Why does my monthly cost vary?

Some months have four lessons, others have five. Your monthly cost reflects the number of lessons scheduled for that month.

  • Can I put my lessons on pause?

You can pause your lessons and keep your lesson time reserved, please just provide 7 days notice prior to your next billing date on the first of the month.

  • How do I end my enrollment?

To end your enrollment, please provide at least 7 days’ notice before the billing date. If you choose to cancel your enrollment mid-month, we cannot guarantee a refund for remaining lessons as that time has been pre-reserved for you on your instructors schedule.

Lesson Experience

  • What ages do you teach?

We offer creative lessons for all ages, from beginners to advanced learners. While we do our best to accommodate young students, our typical minimum age is 4, as younger children may find it difficult to fully engage in the lessons.

  • What materials or equipment do I need for lessons?

Your instructor will guide you on what’s needed for your lessons. Generally, students provide basic materials relevant to their subject (e.g., instruments, art supplies, or a computer with internet for online lessons). We do not supply instruments but we can make thoughtful recommendations on where you can purchase or rent instruments.

  • Can I switch locations for my lessons?

Yes! Location options vary by instructor. Lessons can be held at the Los Feliz Conservatory, instructors’ professional studios, in your home (select instructors), or online. Check with your instructor for their available options.

Instructors

  • How are your instructors selected?

Our instructors are experienced, professional artists who are passionate about educating. They are chosen not only for their creative expertise but for their experience and ability to guide students effectively, from beginning to advanced learners.

  • Are background checks required for instructors?

Yes. All instructors undergo background checks to ensure a safe, professional learning environment.

  • What should I do if I’m running late to a lesson?

Please notify your instructor directly as soon as possible. While late arrivals may reduce lesson time, our instructors try to accommodate when feasible. Be mindful that many instructors have back-to-back lessons.

  • Can I change instructors after enrolling?

Yes! If your current instructor isn’t the right fit, we’ll help you connect with another qualified instructor.

  • Can I work with multiple instructors?

Absolutely. Some students choose to work with more than one instructor to explore different subjects or techniques.
