What do you teach?
Electric bass lessons and guitar, beginner-advanced.
What makes you want to share your skills and knowledge?
Music is a gift that keeps on giving, and the best part about it is being able to play with others! There’s nothing more fulfilling then helping someone find their joy playing their instrument.
What is your experience in your craft and how are you evolving?
I started my musical journey playing classical piano throughout my childhood, however I soon realized I wanted to do something more collaborative in music! Using my music theory knowledge from the piano, I started playing the electric bass in my high school band, and from there started playing in many bands as a bass player and singer. Now, I have been playing and gigging on the electric bass for 8 years, and working as a music teacher for the past 2 years.
What’s your style of teaching?
I adapt my style of teaching around the learning style of my students, and aim to find what feels the most inspiring to learn. I believe in co-creation of the learning space, dictated equally by both teacher & student, where my musical knowledge can fill in gaps of understanding. There are many paths towards a deepening understanding of music, and through these paths I weave in music theory, technique, exercises, and practice routines. My goal as a teacher is for my students to leave our lessons feeling inspired to practice.
What keeps you creatively inspired?
People keep me creatively inspired! I am constantly seeking out new perspectives on the world, new ways of doing things, and new collaborations, both musical and non-musical.
