What do you teach?
I take a multidisciplinary approach to teaching, incorporating painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media. Lessons are tailored to each student’s interests and naturally evolve over time, especially for my younger artists, where we are focused on exploration, curiosity, and expanding their exposure to different art forms. Through this process, students build confidence, develop foundational skills, and discover new ways to express themselves creatively during this formative stage of their development.
What makes you want to share your skills and knowledge?
I believe everyone is inherently creative and that expressing that creativity is an essential part of how we grow and connect to the world around us. I’m passionate about helping children explore their artistic interests and develop the skills to express their ideas with confidence and ease. By providing a supportive outlet for their creative energy, I hope to nurture not only their artistic abilities, but also their ability to think creatively, something that supports them in all areas of life.
What is your experience in your craft and how are you evolving?
I’ve maintained a consistent painting practice for the past 10 years, often working across a range of media and viewing all aspects of my life as part of an ongoing artistic process. I’m deeply interested in using art as a way to build community, foster connection, and bring intention and creativity into the spaces we inhabit. I studied painting in New York and have experience working with children in school settings, which continues to inform my approach to both art-making and teaching.
What’s your style of teaching?
My teaching style is student-centered, playful, and exploratory. I believe creativity flourishes in a supportive environment, so I tailor each lesson to a student’s individual interests and needs, allowing the work to evolve naturally over time. With younger artists, I focus on curiosity, experimentation, and expanding their exposure to different art forms, helping them build foundational skills while celebrating their unique ideas. For artists that are at the upper end of my age range, we can focus on developing skills and tuning into their own internal expression. I aim to create a space where students feel empowered to take creative risks, express themselves freely, and leave each lesson inspired, confident, and excited to continue exploring their artistic voice.
What keeps you creatively inspired?
I’m inspired by the people in my life, reading, nature, color, and music, as I see creativity as something that flows between all aspects of life. I love finding connections between different forms of expression and creating a comfortable, beautiful space to work and play in. And of course, my cats are a constant source of inspiration too.
