Class Description

Experimental Drawing is an all levels welcome class designed to expand and enhance your experimentation within your drawing practice. Learn a variety of new expansive techniques to help you develop a more dynamic approach to getting out of the block and into new forms of expression. Whether you are looking for some direction or starting a new journey within drawing, this class offers a small community to explore with.

Week 1: Breaking Habitual Marks

Week 2: Drawing Outside of Go-To Senses & Time

Week 3: Space, Scale & Escaping Patterns in Mark-Making

Week 4: Reflection

Enrollment
One session includes four weekly group classes. Enrolling in a session means committing to the four weeks of classes, creating continuity for both you and the group.

Meet

Ari

Ari's painting lessons are tailored to unleash students' unique artistic voices, whether they're beginners exploring visual expression or advanced artists seeking critique and refinement. With a background in Fine Arts from SAIC and UCLA, Ari fosters creativity through personalized mentorship, introducing students to new materials and guiding them with generative questions to deepen their creative practice.

Ari received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA in Painting from UCLA. While at SAIC, Ari was the first student in ten years to be nominated and accepted to the Norfolk Summer School of Art Residency at Yale University for the Ellen Battell Stoeckel Fellowship. Ari believes creativity is within us all and fosters artistic growth through mentorship is one of the best ways to move forward in developing a creative practice.
