Meet the Instructor

What do you teach?

I teach bass, keys, and how to record in Logic Pro X. My aim is to help students develop more nuanced songwriting and production skills. As this happens, students will be encouraged to follow their intuitive approach to music, as pertaining to creation, performance and collaboration.

What makes you want to share your skills and knowledge?

The freedom of expression my skills have given me are thanks to the teachers who shared their brains and their heartbeats with me. Those who desire to learn deserve to do so.

What is your experience in your craft and how are you evolving?

My primary instrument is electric bass. My earliest creative practice was dance, so joining the rhythm section seemed logical. You have to overcome the fear of the unknown to begin learning any skill. Once that fear is conquered, you owe it to yourself to face that fear every day and continue to learn something new every day. When it comes to tools of expression, each moment is a chance to be something new. To play the next note.

What is your style of teaching?

I want to empower students of all backgrounds and ages to put their artistry, creative desires, and selves first. This means providing a toolkit that gives one the ability to conceive of and see a vision through. Feeling confident in your ability to jam and improvise, play shows, record demos, and collaborate with others are all skills that fall under the umbrella of musicianship, but are often overlooked in typical music lessons. I hope to help students play bass from the inside out— to explore being exuberant, sensuous, guttural, driving, and silent with their instrument.

What keeps you creatively inspired?

The gift of waking up each morning and choosing to learn something new.
